Hi, I’m Estefany. A first gen Latina in finance.
I started The Generational Shift because I couldn’t find a space that spoke to the real experiences of first-gen students and immigrant families trying to figure out money, college, and life. Most resources felt disconnected from the realities we face; translating paperwork for our parents, juggling multiple responsibilities, and learning things from scratch.

This blog is here to make that easier. I share what I’ve learned through experience and research: how to budget, build credit, save money, and think long-term in plain language, and in both English and Spanish. It’s not about being perfect with money; it’s about having access to the information that can help you make better decisions and feel more in control.
If you’re trying to figure things out as you go, you’re not alone. This space was built with you in mind. I’m happy you are here.
